Corporate Governance of State-Owned EnterprisesThis research project (in progress) aims to identify the relevant institutional variables affecting the performance of SOEs, and it is included in a wider benchmarking project of Latin American utilities lead by the World bank.
This PhD project studies the relevant aspect behind the political economy of income taxation: the interaction between inequality and the political institutions is empirically contradictory if we compare developed democracies and the developing world.
This book (in progress) studies in a quantitative and a qualitative way the sources and consequences of corruption in Latin America. In the quantitative chapters, we examine the impact of education predicting corrupt practices. Also, we examine the impact of Foreign Direct Investment promoting or being driven by corruption. In the qualitative part, we examine in detail several cases of good practices against corruption developed in six Latin American countries in the last 5 years. The Secretaria Iberoamericana cofinanced this project.
