Bio

Sandra León-Alfonso (Barcelona, 1977) finished her LL.M at Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona, Spain) in 1999. She became a member of the Juan March Institute (Center for Advanced Study in the Social Sciences) in 1999 and obtained the M.A. in Social Sciences in 2002. Funded by 'La Caixa Foundation', between 2003 and 2005 she was visiting student in the Department of Government at Harvard University (MA, USA). She defended her Ph.D. thesis 'The Political Economy of Fiscal Decentralization. Bringing Politics to the Study of Intergovernmental Transfers' in June 2006 at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. She is a Doctor-Member of the Juan March Institute and a Lecturer in the Deparment of Politics at the University of York (UK).
