Velázquez: his life, his work, his times

Over the course of two lectures, the French hispanist Bartolomé Bennassar presents his recent research into the figure of Velázquez.
Bartolomé Bennassar is a writer and a historian. He is Emeritus Professor of Modern History in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Toulouse, where he has also been Rector. Of particular note among the honours received are the Order of Alfonso X ‘The Wise’ and the Grand Prize in History from the French Academy for the body of his work. In 2012, he published Velázquez. Vida (“Velázquez. A Life”).
