Seven Years Bad Luck (Sept ans de malheur, 1921) by Max Linder (62’)
Presentation: Fernando Lara
A French-North-American coproduction directed and performed by the French comedian Max Linder. Max, an elegant French vaudeville actor, breaks a mirror and this superstitious curse pursues him, requiring him to use various disguises (dressing up as an old man and as a Negro, for example) and putting him on the verge of being sent to jail. The scene in which he shaves in front of the broken mirror with a double on the other side constitutes an episode of masterful humour.
On Saturday, the video of the presentation recorded the day before will be shown.
