April 8 - June 26, 2005
This group exhibition of some of the most emblematic artists of contemporary photography reflects, via the international artistic scene, the important changes brought about in visual culture during the last decades of the twentieth century and the relevant transformation of photography from a documentary tool to an autonomous instrument of artistic value. It has been a substantial change, eliciting new modes of experimentation that have altered the rules and codes particular to the language of photography. With the possibilities offered by the development of new technologies, artists proposed new images with different documentary, narrative, and conceptual exponents, capturing a variety of themes and iconographies such as gender identity, rural or urban landscape, and architecture.
