The writer Lorenzo Silva (Madrid, 1966) studied Law at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and worked as an accounts auditor, tax adviser and lawyer in the energy sector until 2002, when he began to exclusively concentrate on writing. He has published over seventy books, including volumes of literary and historical essays and travel guides, children’s and young people’s books and stories and over thirty novels.

His crime series featuring the investigators Bevilacqua and Chamorro currently consists of 10 novels. For his fictional works, he has received the Premio Ojo Crítico for El lejano país de los estanques (1998), the Premio Nadal for El alquimista impaciente (2000), the Premio Primavera de Novela for Carta blanca (2004), the Premio Tormo Negro for La reina sin Espejo (2005) and the Premio Planeta and Premio de la Crítica de Madrid for La marca del meridiano (2012), among many others. In 2010 he received the VIII Premio Algaba for his historical essay Sereno en el peligro. La aventura histórica de la Guardia Civil.

Several of his novels have been transferred to the big screen; in 2004 he was nominated for the Goya for the best adapted script for his novel La flaqueza del bolchevique (1997) with Manuel Martín Cuenca. He also wrote the script for the documentary Rif, 1921. Una historia olvidada (2008) with Manu Horrillo and Felipe Vega, which was directed by Manu Horrillo, and that for the telefilm 20-N. Los últimos días de Franco (2008) with Antonio Onetti, directed by Roberto Bodegas.

Since 2008 he has curated Getafe Negro, a detective story festival in Madrid. In print media he contributes to several newspapers belonging to the Grupo Vocento and El Mundo.

He was awarded the Gran Cruz de la Orden del Dos de Mayo and the Premio de Cultura 2013 from the Comunidad de Madrid and named an Honorary Civil Guard and Official Chronicler of the Villa de Getafe. In 2019 he received the Premio Francisco González Ledesma at the festival VLC Negra.
