From the beginning, the practice of poetry has been associated in me with the compulsive questioning of the nature and world of sensible appearances: plants, animals, the grading of light and shade, human constructions and the natural environment, the bodies and volumes of the physical reality. If intimacy is present in these pages, it is in a oblique way, by projecting towards the exterior and dying it with desires and expectations. Using a distinction applied by the English poet and critic Christopher Middleton, I would say that my poetic work tends towards the "configurational" over the "confesional", which has always inspired me certain distrust as, in words of Middleton "the confesional mode is more capable of generating a lax, complacent, and arbitrary writing, [which] also leaves space for imposture, for counterfeit". I agree with him in that there are more healthy (healing) and productive paths to establish a link between the ego and the world than expressionism in its most primitive sense, not mattering if the aims are pathetic or sentimental.
The poem has always been attractive for me due to its sculptural dimension, as a closed and free shape that represents an order, regardless of how fragile of temporary it may be. In my last poems, this symbolic poetry has increased, incorporating a more prosaic diction and approaching the objective to the most intimate planes of reality. With all, and regardless of the changes, my scenes are subject to a styling process that allows the poetical ego to speak with them.
I believe, after all, that the impulses and constants in the origin of writing can simply be reduced to three: the quest for the sense of a dialogue between the look and the memory, the research of nature and the world of appearances, and the loyalty towards the creating word without betraying the requests of sensible perception. It is, in summary, the formulation of a revealing hypotheses about the bond between the conscience individual and his environment waiting (or hoping) for an agreement that allows existence to be more intense and welcoming.
