Lecture SeriesLa "Comedia" de Dante (III)The Purgatorio and the Paradiso

José María Micó

Dante’s Comedy, considered and defined as "divine" soon after it was first published, is perhaps the most characteristic of those great classics of literature that are often more revered than comprehended, and more feared than read. The objective of this series is to situate the author in his historical context, explain the reasons that led him to compose his work, and perceive the extraordinary poetic intensity of the Comedy by reading and commenting on the most important passages from the Inferno (Hell), the Purgatorio (Purgatory) and Paradiso (Heaven).

The presenter of this series of three lectures, the poet, musician and translator José María Micó, Professor of Spanish Literature at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, is the author of the most recent Spanish translation of Dante’s Comedy (2018).
