Carte blanche to Philip Glass

Tai Murray, violin, and Silke Avenhaus, piano

Works by P. Glass and J. Corigliano

In Pendulum (2011), Philip Glass employs the rhythmic irregularities that characterised his most avant-garde works, but he uses a more traditional language and forms that resemble what some term “neo-Romanticism”. This label has often been associated with John Corigliano. His Sonata for Violin and Piano displays an optimistic character and a virtuosity that links it to the works of Barber and Copland.
