The Musical Universe of Bertolt Brecht
Elizabeth Atherton, soprano and Roger Vignoles, piano
Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht worked together for a short period of time though they didn’t always get on. Yet together they created some of the best-known works of the twentieth century, such as The Threepenny Opera. This concert presents a musical biography of Weill, from his early days in Dresden to his last creations on Broadway, as well as his time in Paris and, naturally, the works he composed in partnership with Brecht.
