Brecht, full-body

Miguel Sáenz

"There are many facets of Bertolt Brecht the writer that the others explain and develop", begins the translator and academic Miguel Sáenz. Each of these facets–the person, the poet, the playwright, the novelist, the theorist and the politician–are complementary to a knowledge of Brecht’s poetics, which explored very different genres and resources such as epic theatre, musicals or drama theory. Accusations of plagiarism, reaction to his successes, life in exile and his return to the German Democratic Republic are some of the biographical episodes that illustrate the conflictive relationship Brecht maintained with his artistic and social environment.
