Clara Sanchis, actress, and Miriam Gómez-Morán, piano

Lenore S 346 by Franz Liszt (1811-1886)

Liszt composed Lenore, his first melodrama, in 1859. The work is based on a Gothic theme, a ballad that had widely circulated from the end of the eighteenth century. Set at the end of the Seven Years’ War, Lenore tells the story of a young woman who is kidnapped by the ghost of her beloved, fallen in battle.
