Javier Manterola: "The bridge is the structure par excellence"

Javier Manterola in conversation with Antonio San José

Conversaciones en la Fundación

For the engineer Javier Manterola, there is a necessary component of audacity in his profession. Responsible for bridges such as that of the Barrios de Luna (province of León) –a world-record holder in its class–, Euskalduna (Bilbao) and the more recent 1812 Constitution (Cádiz), he shares and comments on the circumstances that surrounded some of the projects for these outstanding constructions. Manterola also explains issues relating to the history and evolution of the construction of bridges and recalls, on a personal level, his origins, student and early years, and his vocation.
