A journey through Ostia Antica

José María Luzón

The Professor and Archaeologist José María Luzón takes us on a journey through the Roman port of Ostia Antica. Based on the excavations, Luzón show us the variety of public, commercial and storage buildings that make up the city, a model Roman city in the imperial age. The importance of this enclave as Rome’s door to the Mediterranean Sea is illustrated in the mosaics that decorate the city, as well as the taverns and large blocks of brick homes that date from its heyday and growth. Finally, Luzón mentions the latest studies that have been carried out, which have extended the geographical framework of the city and include the port of Trajan and the necropolis.
