Altamira: a Personal Vision

The archaelogist and director of the Museo Arqueológico Regional de la Comunidad de Madrid, Enrique Baquedano, describes the different transformations of the Altamira Cave, from its discovery to the various phases of research and preservation. Polemical issues are also addressed such as the closure of the original cave or the different interpretations of the cave paintings. Considered the Sixtine Chapel of paleolithic art, the lecture covers the cave in its entirity from the viewpoint of the history of archaeology.
