Duke Ellington by Bob Sans Big Band
Bob Sands Big Band
Works by D. Ellington, J. Tizol, B. Bigard, B. Strayhorn, I. Mills and M. Ellington
Duke Ellington’s real instrument was his big band. He expected that the members of these groups, which had been an important part of the jazz scene since the 1920s, were able to improvise, but also to read scores and work together. Ellington’s artistry lay in finding the most unique performers and bringing out the best out in them.
