Bacarisse and the exile: the guitar
Marco Socías, guitar
Salvador Bacarisse (1898-1963) Petite suite Op. 12
Jaume Pahissa (1880-1969): Tres temas de recuerdos
Manuel de Falla (1876-1946): Romance del pescador
In the first half of the 20th century, the guitar asserted itself as a concert instrument without losing its association with traditional music. After the Civil War and during Franco's dictatorship, the activity of Spanish composers in exile, accompanied by the international visibility of guitarists such as Segovia, Yepes or Sainz de la Maza, will reveal an interesting guitar repertoire in which very diverse influences converge, from flamenco to Renaissance music.
