Cibrán Sierra presents the concert "The Quartet as a conversation, 1780–1800"

Between 1780 and 1800, the string quartet went from being a marginal genre to being at the epicenter of the musical system. The profound social and ideological changes that were taking place throughout Europe found their vehicle of expression in an abstract genre, which did not seem to convey concepts or feelings, but which contained a refined form of eloquence. In this way, the quartet came to embody, like no other musical genre, the ideals of the Enlightenment.
