The Celts in the Iberian Peninsula
Gonzalo Ruiz Zapatero
Gonzalo Ruiz Zapatero, Professor of Prehistory at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, inaugurates the lecture series about pre-Roman people with a lecture about the Celts of the Iberian Peninsula, traditionally associated with the La Tène culture. In doing so, he introduces the term “Celt” and its meanings, comments on the new hypotheses about the origins of these people and refers to some of the main settlements of the regions that Celtiberians, Vettones, Vaccaei and Carpetani inhabited, as well as the Castro culture of the North-Western Spain.
