In conversation with the historian and writer José Álvarez Junco, the Emeritus Professor of Contemporary History Juan Pablo Fusi (San Sebastián, 1945) recaps his academic career, commenting on some of his research and most significant publications. The journey begins chronologically with his doctoral research, in Oxford, about the history of the workers’ movement in the Basque Country, and continues with some of his subsequent study themes such as the Spanish Transition –he wrote Spain: From Dictatorship to Democracy (1979), in collaboration with Raymond Carr–; Nationalism and Francoism, concluding with his most recent books and essays that give an overview of the history of Spain and the world.
