C. P. E. Bach and the sensitive style (IV)

Paolo Pandolfo, viola da gamba, Amélie Chemin, cello and Andrea Buccarella, harpsichord

Works by C. P. E. Bach and C. F. Abel

This concert takes us on a sentimental journey through the works of C. P. E. Bach and C. F. Abel. A repertory of transition that looks towards the past on the viola da gamba as a solo instrument while its innovative style, characterised by the thematic clarity and importance placed on expression points towards the Empfindsamer Stil. Carl Philipp claimed that to move the listener, the performer “has to be moved him/herself”, a maxim reflected in the poetic message inherent in this live performance, which the performers want to share despite the contingencies that go with performing live.
