Words of Power. Charms, Riddles and Elegies of the Northlands (8th-11th centuries)
Sequentia. Benjamin Bagby, voice and anglo-saxon harp; Hanna Marti; harp and voice; Stef Conner, voice, and Norbert Rodenkirchen, wooden and bone flutes, and harp
The late Christianized lands of Northern Europe preserved a wide repertoire of elegies, incantations and riddles transmitted orally and transcribed in a fragmentary way in a few manuscripts. The musical reconstruction of these testimonies, carried out by the ensemble Sequentia, allows us to access the cosmovision of a world located on the confines of medieval Europe.
