Translator and professor Helena Cortés Gabaudan introduces and comments on several fragments of the Johan Wofgang von Goethe's Faust. The first part of the session includes several scenes from Faust I: the "Prologue in Heaven" between Mephistopheles and God, the monologue of the lament of the unsatisfied scholar by Faust, the pact between Mephistopheles and Faust, the meetings in the garden and in the prison between Marguerite and Faust and the tragic death of Marguerite; and then from Faust II: fragments of acts III and V—where Helen of Troy and Faust intervene—concluding with the death and salvation of Faust at the end of the play. The Spanish translation of the original corresponds to the one made by the speaker and published in 2010.
