Old and New Testament figures: Paul of Tarsus

Santiago Guijarro

Paul of Tarsus is a controversial character, full of paradoxes, with diverse biographical interpretations throughout the history of Christianity. Santiago Guijarro, priest and professor of New Testament at the Faculty of Theology of the Pontifical University of Salamanca, explains the historical Paul from ancient sources, mainly the book of the Acts of the Apostles (I A.D.)—the most influential work in the configuration of the image inherited of Paul today—and the letters of Saint Paul in the New Testament, where one finds the saint's voice in first person, although somewhat distorted by the multiple editing processes to which they have been subjected over the years.
