Ernesto Halffter: L'espagnolade
Juan Carlos Garvayo, piano
L'espagnolade, by Ernesto Halffter (1905-1989)
"L'espagnolade" by Ernesto Halffter is part of the collection promoted by the Parisian publisher Max Eschig in recognition of the pianist Marguerite Long. The collection appeared under the title Parc d'attractions-Expo 1937 with pages signed by, among others, Honegger, Martinů and Mompou as well as Halffter. Ernesto conceived his contribution as an "album sheet", a piece of marked formal simplicity that looks with respect to the models of Albéniz and Falla to construct a "españolada": two extreme sections with seguidilla rhythm framing a jota copla.
