De Ptolomeo a los satélites: la historia de los mapas (I): Los mapas en la Antigüedad

Javier Gómez Espelosín

In this first lecture of the series dedicated to the history of maps, the professor of Ancient History Javier Gómez Espelosín addresses the question of whether maps existed in Antiquity and for this purpose he reviews several of the most outstanding examples of which there is evidence, paying special attention to the so-called Tabula Peutingeriana and the figures of Eratosthenes and Ptolemy. For the lecturer, these maps—taking into account the difficulties in their creation—respond "more to a cosmological conception than a cartographic one."
