How to build polyrhythms

BOOST Grupo de Percusión (Antonio Martín Aranda, Gregorio Gómez Sánchez, Pablo Serí Leganés and Roberto Fernández Duro)

Polyrhythm is the superposition of two or more independent and contrasting rhythmic elements that give rise to a richer and more complex rhythm. Four procedures to create polyrhythms are explained through a well-known and simple formula: the canon, the offset, the hoquetus and the superposition of ostinati. This video is part of the educational project Noise, pulse, rhythm: the world of percussion.
