Federico García Lorca: How a City sings from November to November

Juan Echanove

In the "Poetics and Theatre" session dedicated to Lluís Pasqual, Juan Echanove reads "Como canta una ciudad de noviembre a noviembre" by Federico García Lorca. The text, written for a recital-lecture, is read with reminiscences of the intonation, accent, rhythm –in a word, the "soul"– that the poet used to depict the city of Granada. In the opinion of Juan Echanove, Lorca left signals in his texts for the actors who would perform them. "You feel very clearly that there is a direct connection with the poet, and after you’ve done Lorca –the actor declares– nothing is ever the same again."
