Presentation of Queen Kelly (1928)
Vicente Molina Foix
The writer Vicente Molina Foix presents, within the silent film cycle "Melodrama and Star-System" the film Queen Kelly, the latest film directed by Erich von Stroheim. It was produced by Joseph P. Kennedy (father of the American president) and the actress Gloria Swanson, who played the leading role. Its complicated action took place in a Central European kingdom, with some delirious scenes to the taste of Sacher-Masoch. The actress's objections to his audacity and the take-off of sound cinema prevented Stroheim from concluding it, but a version including photographs of the truncated ending will be screened.
