Presentation of The Thief of Bagdad (1924)
Román Gubern presents, within the cycle "Literary adaptations", the silent film The Thief of Baghdad (1924), by Raoul Walsh. In this film Walsh displayed an overflowing visual imagination by transposing the oriental mythology of One Thousand and One Nights to the screen, in a surprising art nouveau setting, with Mexican extras recruited in Los Angeles and with the athletic Douglas Fairbanks as the main character, who studied Nijinski's choreography to adapt it to his performance.
