Presentation of October (1927)
"October", the S. M. Eisenstein film commissioned to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Soviet revolution, will kick off this cycle analysing one of the most creative stages in the history of cinema: the transition from silent to talking films. Román Gubern emphasises the experimental nature of Eisenstein’s montage editing, a visual syntax designed to evoke metaphors and allegories, backed by the powerful musical score from the pen of Dmitri Shostakovich.
