The accordion: original and transcription: Cabezón and Erkoreka

Cuatro diferencias (II y IV), by Gabriel Erkoreka and Tiento de IV tono, by Antonio de Cabezón
A Renaissance organ work such as Antonio de Cabezón’s Tiento de IV tono, transcribed for accordion, engages in dialogue with two of Gabriel Erkoreka’s Cuatro diferencias without shrillness. Composed in the twenty-first century, Erkoreka’s pieces recall the “diferencia” or variation technique used by the Renaissance contrapuntists.
