Glenn Gould: Sonata for bassoon and piano (premiere in Spain)

Glenn Gould composed his Sonata for Bassoon and Piano in 1949, when he was just 17 years of age. This video of the first Spanish performance of the work provides an insight into the musical passions of the brilliant Canadian pianist, as reflected in this ambitious piece: the dense counterpoint (that includes a fugue) and a solid formal construction are combined with avant-garde atonality, giving rise to a very original work.
