Presentation of Un Chapeau de paille d'Italie (1927)
Patricia Ferreira
Based on the play of the same name written in 1851 by Eugène Labiche and Marc Michel, the film is a satire of nineteenth-century style and manners, set around a wedding and with a predominantly comic tone. The film director Patricia Ferreira praises the progression of the script, the creation of the characters and the composition of film’s shots, referring to its director, the Frenchman René Clair, as the artifice of the fusion of magic and fantasy with reality, as well as transcendental with everyday situations.
