Beethoven's Symphonies in Chamber Arrangements

Today, Ludwig van Beethoven’s nine symphonies are considered one of the pinnacles of artistic creation. Yet for much of the nineteenth century, music aficionados didn’t have many opportunities to hear them in their original orchestral versions. The difficulties in putting together a symphony orchestra gave rise to numerous arrangements that facilitated their performance in domestic settings and limited spaces. This video presents the series that will take place at the Fundación Juan March during the 2013-2014 Season. For the first time in Spain, modern listeners will have the opportunity to discover the complete Beethoven's symphonies in nineteenth-century chamber arrangements, preceded by introductory presentations given by leading specialists.
