Beethoven's Sixth symphony "Pastoral", in chamber arrangement

Leipzig Quartet with Cristina Pozas, viola, and Miguel Jiménez, cello

L. van Beethoven: Symphony No.º 6 "Pastorale" (selection), arranged by M. G. Fischer

The “Pastoral” Symphony was intended, in Beethoven’s words, as “more an expression of feeling than tone painting”. Tentatively received during its premiere, it was highly praised in an article published two years later by Michael Gotthard Fischer, who was precisely responsible for the magnificent transcription for string sextet that formed part of the series Beethoven’s Symphonies in Chamber Arrangements.
