Ignacio Cirac in conversation with Antonio San José

The journalist Antonio San José speaks to the physicist Ignacio Cirac about his career, from his student years in Spain and his early training as a researcher in the United States and Austria to his present position as Director of the Theory division at the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics in Garching (Germany). Cirac explains some of the principles of quantum physics, describes his current projects and envisages the applications of quantum information processing. His proposals for improving society seek increased support for science and education, and caring for the environment, as necessary investments for new generations.
