Presentation of The Lodger (1926)
The first film to deal with the subject of a false culprit in the filmography of Alfred Hitchcock and therefore the precursor of his subsequent films, The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog contains, as Manuel Hidalgo points out, the cornerstones of the English director’s cine –crime, desire and humour. Pertaining to his youth and his first great commercial success, the visual composition and use of the camera in movement also stand out in this film.
