Spanish song in the 20th century: Conrado and his disciples

Anna Tonna, mezzosoprano, and Jorge Robaina, piano

Songs by C. del Campo, J. Bautista, G. Gombau, E. Casal Chapí, J. Pahissa and A. Isasi

The Lieder tradition, which was a central part of the nineteenth-century musical system, continued to be an important part of early twentieth-century music. In this concert, Anna Tonna and Jaime Robaina perform a selection of songs by Conrado del Campo, some of his pupils (Julián Bautista, Gerardo Gombau and Enrique Casal Chapí) and composers like Jaume Pahissa and Andrés Isasi whose works reflect the influence of post-Romantic European trends.
