De la Pampa y los arrabales: folclore y tango argentinos

Ramón Pelinski presents the concert "Traces of Folklore: Tango popular and tango erudito"

The Argentinian tango is far more than Carlos Gardel (also known as the Zorzal Criollo, whose singing “goes better by the day”). The ethnomusicologist Ramón Pelinski takes us on a history of the tango from its beginnings in the slums of Buenos Aires to the fusions that define it today, highlighting the connections that exist between this genre and certain types of music from Argentinian folklore, such as the milonga.
