Chekhov à la carte
Marcos Ordóñez and Eduardo Fernández, piano
The writer and theatre critic Marcos Ordóñez presents a selection from Anton Chekhov´s correspondence, focusing on his facet as a playwright. In his letters, the Russian man of letters reflects on writing, expresses his reactions to the success or failure of his plays and his feelings. The letters were addressed to his brothers, publisher, the actress Olga Knipper (who would become his wife), and writers and artists such as Stanislavsky and Gorky. The last part consists of a reading of excerpts from the story “Three Yellow Roses” by Raymond Carver, which tells of Chekov’s death in the spa town of Badenweiler (Germany). These will be interspersed with a selection of preludes by Alexander Scriabin, performed by the pianist Eduardo Fernández.
