Mozart: Rondo in D major
Antonio Ortiz, piano
Rondo in D major KV 485 by W. A. Mozart
Mozart’s Rondo in D major K 485 dates from 1786 and was thus composed between his last two groups of sonatas. A faithful reflection of the Austrian taste of the 1780s, which popularised this musical form, this work follows the convention of alternating the main theme (consisting of a descending melody and characteristic rhythm), with others of a more contrasting nature and in different keys.
