Francisco Sánchez

Francisco Sánchez

Born in Añora, Córdoba, in 1954, Professor of Immunology at the Autónoma University of Madrid, and head of the Immunology department at the Princesa Hospital in Madrid. Holds a degree in Biological Sciences (1976) from the University of Seville and is a Doctor of Sciences (1980), and prize winner of the Extraordinary Doctorate Prize from the Autónoma University of Madrid.

Between 1980 and 1983 he worked on his postdoctoral studies at Harvard Medical School, Boston, working on the identification, structure and function of families of receptors implicated in the cytotoxic function of T lymphocytes.

Has been Professor of Immunology since 1990. Elected member of the European Molecular Biology Organisation (EMBO) since 1996 and member of the Editorial Board of the European Journal of Immunology and Cellular Immunology.
