Liszt in Spain (1844-1845)

This series took place onFrom to

For various months between 1844 and 1845, the nineteenth-century composer-virtuoso par excellence travelled throughout the Iberian Peninsula, performing around 30 concerts. Liszt had always been captivated by Spanish music, which was full of exotic connotations for European ears at the time. But his trip to Spain increased this attraction and led him to compose new works based on local melodies. This journey is the inspiration for this series of three concerts, one of which reproduces the same program Liszt presented in Madrid on 28 October 1844.
