The origins of El Rastro of Madrid date back to the fifteenth century and to the street vending of tripe and offal, old clothes, trinkets and animals on the outskirts of a saltpeter factory, a tobacco factory and the abattoir. The writer, translator and editor Andrés Trapiello will take us through the history and experiences of this immense popular open-air flea market.
