Coinciding with the art exhibition THE UNSEEN. From Informalist painting to the postwar photobook [1945-1965], the series analyses post-World War II art. The university lecturers and curators María Dolores Jiménez-Blanco and Horacio Fernández will respectively discuss the painting and photography of this period, both representations of an aesthetic that was proposed as a collective catharsis and reaction to the limits set by formalism.
Artists as witnesses to terrible events confronted the different expressive possibilities and the nature of painting and photography to transmit diverse yet complementary meanings of mourning, horror and destruction.
