Although it is impossible to recreate the cultural context that gave life to cave inscriptions, the fact that even today they move us is linked to the emotions, history and societies of the primitive human beings from which the come. But what is Palaeolithic cave art? How is it geographically distributed? What does it mean?
This series of lectures will propose answers to these questions. A session will also be devoted to analysing the Altamira cave and the series will conclude with a reflection on the fascination prehistoric art has exerted on modern intellectuals and artists.
