The Origins of Popular Song

This series took place onFrom to
It is possible to narrate the history of a music, like popular music, transmitted orally? Judging by the most widespread view, it wouldn’t appear so. In contrast to the stories that explain the development and evolution of notated music, oral traditions are described as a static and immutable entity, whose changes are difficult to document. This series, however, traces the origins of popular styles such as flamenco, fado and other urban and rural musics, and links them to classical genres from different periods to show the common roots of many of them.
