Unpublished Ferandiere: the Guitar in the Chamber

This series took place onFrom to
Of popular origin, the guitar was extensively developed throughout the eighteenth century and became a natural part of the most exquisite chamber-music repertory. The recent discovery of an unpublished collection of scores by Fernando Ferandiere (a Spanish composer, violinist, guitarist and theorist) pertaining to the House of Navascués (Navarre) includes a series of unknown works that incorporate the instrument into different chamber ensembles. Solo, in guitar duets, violin and guitar duets or in trios, these pieces reflect the beliefs of the composer, for whom “our guitar is capable of alternating with all the instruments that are accepted in an orchestra”.
