The Music of the Catholic Monarchs. Three Historic Moments
This series took place onFrom to
Few periods in the history of Spain have been more far-reaching than the period of the Catholic Monarchs, a first historic step for the union of the Iberian Peninsula. At the time, music played a central role in courtly settings, both in institutional ceremonies of public importance and at moments of leisure of private entertaining, all always subject to the strict protocol of the court. The three concerts in this series recreate some of the most important musical moments of the milieu of the Catholic Monarchs, reconstructed in light of the historical documentation and recent musicological research. Imbued in this spirit, these concerts not only aspire to a historically informed performance, but a certain staging that stimulates better comprehension of the impact it could have made on listeners of the period.
